Mile High Freedom Band
The Mile High Freedom Band is an established charitable organization serving the GLBT community in Denver for over 23 years. In addition, we collaborate with other musical organizations throughout the Denver metropolitan area and beyond, including the Littleton Community Music Association (LCMA). We are also a member of an international organization the Lesbian and Gay Bands Association (LGBA), having participated in performances around the world in support of the Federation of Gay Games (FGG).

The members of the BAND have joined together as a not-for-profit organization, building community for the purpose of developing a professional quality musical group. The Mile High Freedom Band is open to ALL who respect the diversities in life, including the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered (GLBT) community. Through performances and other activities, the Mile High Freedom Band provides educational, cultural and social enrichment for its Members and its audience and makes a positive contribution to the community.

Prez's Corner

Wow!  What a great kickoff to our 25th Anniversary Season

This year has already been a blast!  We played a great concert “From Broadway to The Big Screen To Our Little Stage” and had fun Christmas caroling around the Denver -- and Aurora at the new Ronald McDonald House.  What a fun start to our 25th season…and the band plays on.

St Patrick’s Day is nearing where we’ll be performing in our 25th consecutive Denver St Patrick’s Day Parade…a huge milestone for any GLBT group in the country!  A few of our LGBA friends are going to be joining us for this momentous event which will make it even more fun.  Save The Date:  May 16th for our fabulous 25th Anniversary concert “Denver’s Silver Boom”.

The band has grown substantially over the past couple of months…which is great…but there is always room for more!  If you’re interested in playing your instrument again, please contact membership@mhfb.org for more information.

History
In April of 1984, a small group of instrumentalist got together to create the Denver "Gay and Lesbian Community Band," founded by Bob Brown. Bob's original goal was to provide a forum for men and women, of all backgrounds, to create music together, educate the community, and meet new friends. A few months later, our name was changed to the "Mile High Freedom Band." The band's purpose remains to this day: to provide educational, cultural and social enrichment for its members and audience. Furthermore, we support our community at large providing entertainment as well as GLBT awareness.
