the Lesbian and Gay Bands Association (LGBA), having participated in performances
around the world in support of the Federation of Gay Games (FGG).
The members of the BAND have joined together as a not-for-profit organization,
building community for the purpose of developing a professional quality musical
group. The Mile High Freedom Band is open to ALL who respect the diversities
in life, including the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered (GLBT) community.
Through performances and other activities, the Mile High Freedom Band provides
educational, cultural and social enrichment for its Members and its audience
and makes a positive contribution to the community.

Mile High Freedom Band 25 Years and going strong…..
What a season we had last year!! The Mile High Freedom Band just celebrated its 25th year with an outstanding concert. I want to give a big thank you to everyone that has helped the band from the beginning of Bob Browns vision 25 years ago to now as we enter our 26th year.
Just last month the MHFB also hit another first. For the first time in our history we have received a grant from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD). We are very excited to be recognized by this great organization. Thanks to the tax payers of the district. Your tax dollars are hard at work.
We have already had our first performance of the year playing for the runners and walkers at the annual Colorado Aids Walk. Later this month we will be playing for the ADA Step Out Walk here in Denver. On November 21, we perform our big fall concert titled “Flights of Fancy.” We have been working hard the last two months to bring you another great performance and I encourage everyone to attend this free event. Please check out our calendar for more upcoming performances within our community.
As we look forward towards tomorrow we have some exciting opportunities to help grow our presence within the Rocky Mountain communities we serve. If you are interested in joining the band please contact Len at membership@mhfb.org for more information about membership whether it be dusting off your instrument off or volunteering your time to help behind the scenes. We welcome your participation and appreciate your support.
Here’s to the next 25 years!!

History
In April of 1984, a small group of instrumentalist got together to create
the Denver "Gay and Lesbian Community Band," founded by Bob Brown.
Bob's original goal was to provide a forum for men and women, of all backgrounds,
to create music together, educate the community, and meet new friends.
A few months later, our name was changed to the "Mile High Freedom
Band." The band's purpose remains to this day: to provide educational,
cultural and social enrichment for its members and audience. Furthermore,
we support our community at large providing entertainment as well as GLBT
awareness.
Membership
